| A friend is a friend, loss is loss, and grief is griefMy aunt's beloved little Gracie dog is going to be put to sleep. She's devastated. Understandably.
A vet misdiagnosed Gracie's broken elbow. He said it was just hyperextension. Took no xrays, so after 2 months of Gracie limping & being in pain, my aunt took her to my lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely wonderfulwonderfulwonderful amazing (!!!!!!!!1!!!111!!!!!!!!!!!!) vet (can't sing her praises enough!) My vet took xrays. Gracie's elbow has been broken for two months.
Now it's a $4,000 orthopaedic procedure, $3,000 amputation, or $50 to have her put to sleep. She's an older dog and she's very small. It seems that the most humane thing to do for her now is put her to sleep. Which isn't humane at all, but consider the other options.
I feel horrible for her. What a tough thing to go through. I know. When you've got a soul-mate animal, it's tough to let them go (see: Renny, dead).
A friend is a friend, loss is loss, and grief is grief. I don't care if you've lost a human friend or an animal friend; it ALL hurts.
It's my turn, now, to support her in her time of need and I feel very useless and very useful all at once. It's a weird thing, connecting with someone else's grief.
What can I do for her? Bring her books, bake her brownies and cookies, cook her dinner? Yes, I can do all of those things. I AM doing all of those things.
I only hope that she sees this and is willing to return the favor for me when I need her in a time of grief. Although, that's an expectation. I have no expectation of reciprocation.
I desire only to help her up and hold her hand.

| More Pictures! Ralph doesn't really appreciate having his picture taken :(
And when he looks at the camera, it's always with a crazy face or his eyes closed..
Unhappy cat. But, look! His eyes! They're beautiful.
And he has the best paws. EVER.
 See? Totes adorbs.
 Even with his eyes crossed!
He has some sweet racing stripes, too.

This is Princess, the neighborhood dog. She's a sweet dog, really, but she's waaaay too hyper and totally not potty trained. Stupid tiny dogs.
-----------
Meet Tom/Bernie. Behind those lovely blue eyes is the mind of a madman. The only time Shawn will pose for pictures is with Bernie or when I'm not behind the camera. Wanda took these.
Bernie loves his Joe Montana. He sleeps with him every time we're at Wanda & Buddha's house.
What handsome men. (Yes, that's my hand. I WANT ATTENNNNNTIONNNN.)
He'll hate me for putting this up, but it's absolutely priceless. George is totally out, something that rarely happens when he's on the bed. Shawn just looks pale & cold. And, for some reason, he always pushes his shirtsleeve up when he sleeps with a shirt on. Photographic proof.
